JANDY | BACKWASH VALVE KIT SLIDE 2" | SVLV2

I purchased this Jandy backwash valve to retrofit to my Atlas Premier PA48 stainless steel DE filter. The original backwash valve failed, and there was no factory replacement. The Jandy SVLV2 backwash valve has an 8 inch centerline, which is the correct size for my Atlas Premier unit. Many backwash valves have different size centerlines. The trick is to find the proper fitting to connect the backwash valve to the filter inlet and outlet ports. This problem can be solved by using one half of a 2 inch glue on PVC pool pump union. The threaded collar screws on to the DE Filter ports, and it can then be connected to the backwash valve using a short section of 2 inch PVC pipe. The only other issue I encountered is the Jandy backwash valve is longer than the original. This requires the DE filter to be elevated 2 inches to allow clearance for the bottom pool return line. A 2 inch concrete paver was used for this purpose. The Jandy SVLV2 backwash valve is a great option to retrofit a backwash valve on an Atlas Premier DE filter.
